10 Spring Crafts for Preschoolers! (And Fun ActivitY Ideas!)

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Spring is a season full of beauty. The cold, barren winter months seems to melt from our memories as we watch the grass become greener, and the flowers push their way up through the soil. Warmer weather and longer spells of daylight seem to lift the spirits.

Spring is also full of exciting new discoveries! Below are 10 crafts with complementary activities for you and your preschooler to enjoy! You may even find that your older school-age children find these activities fun as well!!

Paint With Broccoli- Fun Stamped Spring Trees

Broccoli, a healthy vegetable, is also fun to paint with! This is a perfect activity to use to complement a discussion about how trees flower for ornamental purposes, or to bear fruit. Learning about how bees pollinate flowers would also be a nice educational opportunity in connection with this cute craft!

Paper Plate Flowers

This is a fun craft for kiddos that love to use scissors! You can even use this craft for a Mother’s Day card!

Something they would go hand in hand with flower crafts is growing your own flowers! All you need is an egg carton, marigold seeds, water, dirt, Saran Wrap, and sunshine! (Cover the seeds with Saran Wrap until they start to sprout.)

The cool thing about marigolds is that you do not have to start them indoors! I directly sow mine outdoors every spring. (Tip: save the seeds for the following year! I have been collecting seeds every fall from my marigolds for 6 years!!)

Paper Bag Frog Puppet

From Iheart Crafty Things

Does your child like the finger play “5 Green and Speckled Frogs”? Then this craft is a must! To tie in a science lesson, consider learning about the life cycle of a frog.

Butterfly Craft!

From “Simply Full of Delight”

Butterflies are soo fascinating! It is amazing how a little caterpillar can turn into a beautiful butterfly!

Butterflies can also be used to teach symmetry! This craft by “Simply Full of Delight” is a fun, hands-on way to illustrate this mathematical concept!

Also consider getting a butterfly growing kit so your littles can watch the exciting transformation of this tiny creatures from caterpillar to butterfly!

Ladybug Crafts!

From “Everyday Chaos and Calm”

Springtime is my favorite time to learn about bugs! Ants beginning building their underground homes, butterflies begin fluttering from flower to flower, and the bees begin their yummy honey business!

Ladybugs are very fascinating, but can also be a great tool for education! Their black spots can inspire a dot counting activity, and the life cycle of the lady bug is just as interesting a science lesson as is the butterfly and frog!

Has your child ever read “The Grouchy Lady Bug” book by Eric Carle? This book would definitely compliment ladybug crafts, as would ordering the Insect Lore Live Ladybug Growing Kit!

Flower Pot Painting!

This is a great opportunity for our kids to express their artistic abilities! If you decided to start some flowers indoors, these pots will definitely be a must! You could also consider growing medicinal herbs, so to become more independent from modern medicine.

(You can also use this craft for a Mother’s Day craft for mommy or grandma!)

Weather Crafts!

April showers bring May flowers! Spring is full of weather activity- rain, wind, tornadoes, warmer weather. Rain is an important part of spring because flowers can’t grow and the green grass can’t revive without it. The wind helps get rid of the fall leaves and the dead branches of trees. This rain drop craft goes perfectly with a lesson on spring weather patterns, because the child uses their “wind” to blow the blue paint across the paper!

Dandelion Craft!

Dandelions are such an amazing flower! When they are still yellow, children can “paint” with them. After they age and turn white, children enjoy watching the seeds scatter as they blow them away!

Dandelions also have many health benefits too! When my mother as a girl had an UTI, her grandmother would have her go outside and dig up a dandelion root and eat it. Bye bye UTI! The leaves of the dandelion are also safe to eat (as long as they have no chemicals sprayed on them!!!) My My great aunt loved to eat dandelion greens, so my father and I would pick them, place them in a brown paper bag, and take them to her. (Health benefits)

Did you know you can make dandelion jelly? I have been meaning to for a couple years, but haven’t gotten around to it. You can also make Violet jelly!

Fishing Crafts!

These fishing crafts from “Fantastic Fun Learning” are too cute! Fishing is often portrayed as a summer activity. The best time to fish are actually in the spring and fall times. In the spring, the fish are coming out of hibernation, so they are very hungry! In the fall time, they gobble everything in sight so they can survive the long winter months. During the summer, fish like to stay in deeper water so they don’t get overheated.

Fishing is one of our favorite spring activities! We like to fish for keeps, so bluegill is our coveted catch due to their mild taste. Fishing is also fun for children even if you do not plan to take them home with you. You can fine the poles we use here.

Zoo Animal Crafts!

Who doesn’t love zoo animal crafts?! These crafts from “Keep Toddlers Busy” have soo many cute craft ideas they are ideal for littles. Planning a zoo trip is a must prior to completing zoo crafts!
