School is out…..woo-hoo!! Time to toss the books, put up the pencils, and start enjoying summer vacation! The only problem is….

Who can afford a 2022 summer vacation?

Many, many families are faced with limited choices in what they can do with their summer. With gas and the over all cost of living skyrocketing, food shortages threatening (who ever would have thought baby formula would be an issue??), a lot of families are opting to stay home and find ways to enjoy the summer in their own backyard.

Fortunately there are so many fun activities that we can do with our families and fill summer 2022 with beautiful memories! I’m going to share some of my favorites later on!

What is Causing More Home Vacations?

Families are being hit with the economic crisis developing in our country, forcing them to stay home or local for the summer.

But what some don’t realize is they you can still have a fun local summer vacation without breaking the bank!

Maybe even more fun!!

But….

Why do so Many People Feel Guilty About Doing Local Vacations?

American families have been trained that in order to make your children feel loved, you need tospend lots of money on them and make sure they have extravagant summer vacations (maybe some children try to make their parents feel this way!). Parents who have to stay local feel embarrassed when peers inquire about their summer plans.

In all truth, you don’t have to go to the beach in order to say you had the summer of a lifetime!

Some of my best memories were camping in tents, cooking every meal over a fire, hiking, fishing, creeking, canoeing. As a child I couldn’t understand why on earth someone would call “going camping” living in a mobile home for a week. Even we went to Mammoth Caves when I was around 10 we slept in tents!

I did not have a deprived childhood because we didn’t go to the Grand Canyon every summer. I was given the gift to find happiness in doing things together as a family.
